Great Rock with soul, a combination of folk, alternative and pop that gives Sing their unique sound and musical approach. The guys love to mix it up and are not afraid to explore and search for new inspiration and influences. The whole concept of Sing is kicking it old school. The guy’s are not driven to merely write a few single so they can cash in, but instead, focus more on creating great music with depth. Music that touches and reaches out. Sing is working on delivering a great first album, start to finish and certainly one that does not contain any filler’s. Although the band is fairly new, its members have been on the Montreal music scene for more than 8 years. From studio sessions for labels and artists, to tours and covers bands. These accomplished musicians have done it all. The only thing that’s been missing, is a project where their unique talent, imagination and love for writing music could come together. 3 years ago Jason, Pat and Joe received a call from Fred. Intrigue by Fred’s proposition, they all met for a few jam sessions. “Most of the guys didn’t even know each other. There we were, in this little rehearsal room, amps plugged in, ready to go, having no idea what was gonna come of it” - Fred. The chemistry was right and the ideas kept flowing. The band participated in a “battle of the bands” contest called Emergenza and finished 2nd. After a year of writing and playing in different bars and talent shows, the group decided to record their first demo, exploring new arrangements and defining their sound even more. At that point, the band was looking for a producer. That’s when Frank was brought to the group’s attention by Joe Major. They had been playing together on studio projects, cover bands and with different establish artist at the time. Frank brought a lot to the group musically, creatively and technically. His unique arrangements redefined and solidified what was to become Sing’s sound. Fred was intrigue by Frank’s approach, and started writing songs with him. Over this period of time, a great bond grew between the two of them and soon, both men were leading this project. If there is such a thing as a Ying and a Yang, then Fred and Frank are just that. Both opposites, but profoundly united in their shared vision; they bring balance to the whole band. “Fred will shit out thousands of ideas in a minute, he’s unbelievable, but has trouble organising them or finishing them off. – Frank is a meticulous guy, putting a lot of time in each musical part to make sure everything is perfect. He sees through my scruffy ideas and is aware of the potential they withhold… We kind of need each other.” - Frank-Fred After producing and recording 8 songs at Frank’s Studio, the band decided it was time to test their new material and get feedback off a live audience. They organised a couple of little concerts in Montreal and Los Angeles back in November and December 2005. Getting great reactions both cities fuelled the guys to come back in studio and write the remaining songs for their first album. The band is now looking for management and will soon start shopping around for a record deal. They will also be touring this summer. Check our web site at www.singband.com for more info.
